چکیده
The prostate gland is one of the reproductive enclosure glands that its physiological function is necessary for successful reproduction in males. This gland depends on sexual hormones including androgens for its natural function and normal growth and development. So in the case of hyperplasia, hypertrophy or other prostate diseases, the most successful and efficient method of treatment is castration that in some cases is unavoidable. This thesis has been done to survey the effects of the androgen depletion states on the prostate gland and for determining the mechanism of cell death engaged in this state. In this thesis we used two groups of dogs that each group contained 5 dogs. These dogs were under care for 1 month. In this period of time they were surveyed for any possible disease. After this period the dogs in "treatment group were castrated for decreasing the level of the androgen hormones in the blood. The dogs in the "control group" were left intact. After a week of surgery, prostate glands of these dogs were extracted and used for preparing pathological cross sections. These sections have been colored in the TUNEL and H&E methods and then inspected with optical microscope for detecting apoptotic cells. We found that after castration, the size of the prostate gland decreases and microscopically changes of the gland include increased number of apoptotic cells. These results demonstrate that the type of the cell death engaged in prostate gland in androgen deprivation states are Apoptosis.

Single Orbital Metastasis in Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer
Introduction: Orbital metastasis of prostate cancer (PC) is very rare and even more unique in castration-resistant PC (CRPC). In this scenario, choline positron emission tomography/computed tomography (choline PET/CT) is the gold-standard restaging method of choice available in our setting, and new anti-androgens treatments show improvement in overall survival. Case presentation: We report the...

متن کاملInsulin affects tissue organization and the kinetics of epithelial cell death in the rat ventral prostate after castration.
Prostate growth and physiology are regulated by steroid hormones and modulated by multiple endocrine factors. We investigated the action of insulin on the tissue organization and kinetics of epithelial cells in the rat ventral prostate (VP) in response to castration up to 120 hours after surgery by using an acute protocol of alloxan-induced diabetes. Diabetes caused a reduction in volume densit...
متن کاملInhibitory effects of castration in an orthotopic model of androgen-independent prostate cancer can be mimicked and enhanced by angiogenesis inhibition.
PURPOSE Today, the most important treatment of advanced prostate cancer is castration; unfortunately, however, the long-term effect of this therapy is insufficient. Recent studies suggest that castration-induced prostate involution could be caused by primary effects in the prostate vasculature; therefore, we examined if antivascular treatments could mimic the effects of castration. EXPERIMENT...
متن کاملCastration induces apoptosis in the ventral prostate but not in an androgen-sensitive prostatic adenocarcinoma in the rat.
Apoptosis in the androgen-sensitive Dunning R3327 PAP prostatic adenocarcinoma was studied during the post castration period of 14 days and compared with the ventral prostate. The mRNA expression of testosterone repressed prostatic message-2 and tissue-type plasminogen activator in the Dunning tumor and in the ventral prostate was analyzed by Northern blot experiments and immunohistochemical pr...
